Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy: Help for Menopause

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is an important strategy for women in perimenopause and menopause. This treatment approach helps us cope with the unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms of a challenging time in our lives.

Bioidentical HRT includes natural estrogen and natural progesterone. They are identical to the substances your body makes. These treatments can be delivered through a pill or through transdermal cream that you rub on your skin. Natural HRT treatments are derived from soybeans or wild yam and other natural plant sources.

Many women have been frightened by recent studies have shown that HRT can cause cancer. Keep in mind that those studies were all done using synthetic hormones. Synthetics are unnatural substances with a different molecular composition than the estrogen and progesterone your body makes.

No studies have been done on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and whether it can cause cancer.
